Three Patti War — Sunset Bazaar themed head-to-head card duel

A One-On-One Format That Settles In Under A Minute

Three Patti War strips the chaal-and-show complexity of multi-player Teen Patti down to a head-to-head duel. You are dealt three cards; the dealer is dealt three cards; both hands compare directly. Higher hand wins, no chaal rounds, no bluffing, no side-show. The whole hand settles in about thirty seconds end-to-end — bet, deal, compare, settle, next.

The format is closer to a casino-style three-card poker than to traditional Teen Patti. The rules are simpler, the math is more transparent, and the decision surface is smaller. After the cards are dealt, you have one choice — stay in (call the dealer's hand at the current stake) or fold (forfeit your initial ante stake and end the hand). That single decision is the entire strategic surface of the game.

The format suits players who want quick-resolving rounds without the social and decision-tree complexity of multi-player Teen Patti. The pace is faster than multi-player baazi (no waiting for other players to act), the math is more transparent (only one opponent's hand to consider), and the per-hand cost is bounded (only your initial ante and the matched stake are at risk). Many regulars use Three Patti War as a warm-up before sitting at the multi-player Teen Patti tables, or as a quick-play option when they don't have time for a longer baazi session.

How A Hand Plays Out

Each hand starts with you posting an ante stake — ₹10 minimum at the Sunset Bazaar table, ₹500 maximum. Three cards are dealt face-up to you immediately. The dealer's three cards are dealt face-down (you cannot see them yet). At this point you make your one decision: Play (match your ante stake into the pot, total stake doubles) or Fold (forfeit the ante, hand ends with no further action).

If you Play, the dealer's cards are revealed. Standard Teen Patti hand-ranking applies — Trio beats Pure Sequence beats Sequence beats Colour beats Pair beats High Card. The dealer's hand must qualify (typically Queen-High or better) for the comparison to proceed; if the dealer does not qualify, your ante is returned at 1:1 and the matched stake is pushed (returned without profit). If the dealer qualifies, the higher hand wins both the ante stake and the matched stake at 1:1.

The dealer-qualification rule is what gives the house its edge in Three Patti War. When the dealer fails to qualify, you only win your ante back — not the matched stake. This means that on hands where you Play and the dealer is dealt a weak hand, you do not get the full payout you would have received if the dealer's hand had been weak but qualified. The math works out to roughly a 3 per cent house edge with optimal play (always Play with Queen-6-4 or better).

The Optimal Strategy Rule And Why It Works

The strategic depth of Three Patti War reduces to one rule: Play any hand of Queen-6-4 or better, Fold anything weaker. This is the analogue of three-card-poker's optimal play rule, derived from minimising the expected loss across the distribution of possible dealer hands.

The intuition: if your hand is Queen-high or better, you are favoured against the average dealer hand that qualifies. If your hand is weaker than Queen-6-4 (say, J-9-3 or worse), the math says folding and accepting the ante loss is better than matching the stake and probably losing it too. The threshold is precise — Queen-6-3 is too weak; Queen-6-4 is the marginal hand where Playing breaks even with Folding.

For new players, a slightly simpler rule works almost as well: Play any pair or higher, Play any Queen-high hand, Fold anything weaker. This rule sacrifices about 0.2 per cent of expected value relative to the optimal Queen-6-4 rule but is much easier to remember and apply quickly. Either rule produces long-run play at roughly a 3 per cent house edge, which is competitive with most casino table games.

The trap to avoid: Playing every hand. Some players think that because they have already paid the ante, they should Play every hand regardless of cards. The math is clear — Playing weak hands (anything worse than Queen-6-4) costs more in long-run loss than Folding does. Discipline on weak hands is what separates break-even Three Patti War players from steady losers.

Where Three Patti War Fits Versus Other Card Tables

Compared to multi-player Teen Patti, Three Patti War trades depth for speed. The multi-player game has chaal rounds, side-shows, bluffing dynamics, and seat-position considerations — all of which create rich strategic surface. Three Patti War strips all of that out and presents a single Play-or-Fold decision. The trade-off is that hands resolve much faster (thirty seconds versus three to seven minutes), and the math is much more transparent.

Compared to Andar Bahar, Three Patti War has slightly more decision content (the Play-or-Fold decision based on your hand) and slightly slower resolution (the dealer-qualification check adds a beat). Compared to Dragon vs Tiger, Three Patti War has more decision content (three-card hand-ranking versus one-card comparison) and a slightly larger house edge.

For most evening sessions, Three Patti War works best as a punctuation game between longer multi-player Teen Patti baazi or slot sessions. Twenty hands of Three Patti War run in roughly ten minutes; that fits comfortably between a Teen Patti baazi and a slot session without requiring a major session commitment. Some regulars use it as a quick decision-warm-up before sitting at the multi-player tables, since the hand-ranking reads are similar.

About Three Patti War

The dealer-qualification rule is a standard house-edge mechanic borrowed from three-card poker. If the dealer's hand is weaker than Queen-high, the dealer does not "qualify" — meaning the comparison stops, you win back your ante stake at 1:1, but the matched stake (the second portion you put in when you tapped Play) is pushed back without profit. The mechanic gives the house a structural edge: when the dealer is weak, you do not get the full payout you would have on a fair comparison. It works out to roughly a 3 per cent long-run edge.

The Queen-6-4 rule is the mathematically optimal play threshold for Three Patti War. If your three-card hand is Queen-6-4 or better when ranked under standard Teen Patti rules, the expected value of Playing exceeds the expected value of Folding. Hands weaker than Queen-6-4 are better folded — the loss of the ante is smaller than the expected additional loss from Playing. The rule produces near-optimal play; alternative simpler rules (like "play any pair or higher") are slightly worse but easier to apply.

Three Patti War is the head-to-head dealer-against-you version of three-card poker. Multi-player Teen Patti is the social baazi format with chaal rounds, blind-versus-seen play, and showdowns against multiple opponents. The two share the hand-ranking system but the gameplay dynamics are different. War is faster and more mathematical; multi-player Teen Patti is slower and more psychological. Pick by what kind of session you want — short and mechanical or longer and social.

No — both your cards and the dealer's cards are dealt from a freshly shuffled 52-card deck for every hand using the certified RNG that powers the rest of the Sunset Bazaar suite. The dealer's cards are determined the moment the hand is dealt, before you tap Play or Fold. The order of reveal is purely visual (dealer cards hidden until your decision, then revealed) — the cards themselves are fixed at the deal. There is no mid-hand adjustment possible.
